During the first and last set on a Sunday morning, when I sit for 45 minutes before the last song, I often feel like mucus collects in my throat and I have an almost obsessive need to constantly “clear my throat”. Any tips to keep this from happening?

  Hi Teresa! This is usually a sign that you are pushing too hard on the voice during the first set of songs. When we stop singing and the voice is fatigued, there is inflammation, which then causes a build-up of mucus/phlegm. I encourage you to make sure you’re warming up adequately before singing, and keep honing in on singing with proper vocal technique so that you are not over-working your vocal muscles!
